For this project, I was heavily inspired to do my brand identity around the core process of printing, halftones, and overprinting. I wanted my identity to be a more playful and readable approach to CMYK since that is the printing color process. During my research, I was fascinated by the diversity present in every aspect of the Art Book Fair and Zine Fest spaces. I wanted to play with the eclectic nature of its audience and the events themselves through the application of the logo’s shapes in various visual contexts.
Since this is the first Art Book Fair and Zine Fest at Clemson, I wanted to incorporate some modernist influences since the Clemson Elevate plan and brand identity reflect some of those ideas. Although it is not in Clemson colors, I wanted this system to be something that could easily be reused throughout the years, with the possibility of the year’s theme incorporating more of the Clemson branding. During my process, my primary goal was to see how far I could push the system to work for an array of needs and materials, from decorative physical objects to social media marketing.
My design was selected as the brand identity for the inaugural Clemson Art Book Fair.
